The white sand beach is great for spending a day at the beach and having a picnic. There are also a few notable historic attractions along the beach including an ancient Chamorro latte site and some World War II bunkers.
LAU LAU BEACH
Lau Lau Beach makes up a small portion of the northern coast of Lau Lau Bay and is a popular diving spot on the eastern side of Saipan. The entry to get to the beach area is remotely located. You need to go on a bumpy dirt road through the jungle and it is suggested you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle if you plan on making a trip out to this area. The area is fairly secluded but it does get busy at times as many people come to Lau Lau Beach for diving activities.
There is an abundance of sea life in Lau Lau Bay ranging from sea turtles to many species of fish, octopus, eels, crabs, a large variety of coral, anemone and much more.
The lagoon portion of Laulau Beach which is protected by the coral reef is fairly shallow and you can walk in the warm, shallow water. Great for beach combing!
Another fun activity of the locals is cliff jumping off the cliffs just south of the LauLau Bay Golf Course. There are certain sections which offer smaller jumps while others are 30+ feet high jumps locals have known to do. As a warning, if your just visiting Saipan on vacation and unfamiliar with the area it’s not suggested you go cliff jumping in the area for your safety.
Ladder Beach is the southern most beach in Saipan, making up most of the southern coast of the island. There is no protective coral reef or lagoon in this area making the waters off the coast of the beach very rough.
PAU PAU BEACH
Pau Pau Beach is located on the northwestern coast of Saipan just south of Wing Beach. To get to Pau Pau Beach just travel along Chalan Pale Arnold road on the west coast of Saipan until you reach Pau Pau Beach Drive. There are two hotels which are situated along Pau Pau Beach, the Marianas Resort & Spa and the Hotel Nikko.
Pau Pau Beach is protected by the coral reef which surrounds most of the western coast of Saipan, and the water off the coast of the beach is known as Tanapag Lagoon, or Laguana Tanapag in Chamorro. The waters off the coast of Pau Pau Beach are fairly calm because of the reef and offer visitors a great place to swim and wade in the water.
Located on the northwestern coast of Saipan along Chalan Pale Arnold road in the Marpi area, Wing Beach is one of the few beaches in the western coast of the island that isn’t as protected by the coral reef.
